Ask Jim Baggett, Mass Street Music (800-747-9980), and he'll know. He appears on Antiques Road Show to appraise old guitars, usually Martins. I'm an old Martin myself, also a 1947. Couldn't get a plug nickel for me. I don't know shinola about vintage guitars (other than their obscene prices), but is that an after-market pick guard? Looks black, and they didn't go from tortoid to black until well after '47. Good luck. tom
Carter, the newest price guide shows $1600-$2100. I've actually been looking for the "right" old tenor guitar for quite a while. Still haven't found it. In Martins I prefer the 5-series (smaller bodies), but I actually think the old Gibsons are cooler.
