I think I was a victim of the Spam filter. I tried Kim again today and she responded pretty quickly (thank for the extra help, Mike!).

We're trying to work something out. At this point, I don't see how I can pass it up.

The studio gear I wanted might be able to wait, although it was presented to me suddenly, at a price I can't pass up, and it may not surface again.

Thanks for all the help. I mentioned a couple other names from this thread to Kim and spoke about how well her reputation has been established here. I'd rarely feel confident to "mail-order" a guitar I haven't played from a person I don't know, but this one seems pretty safe.

More to come.

Just to clarify - Kim did respond to my email, and on a Sunday evening, too. A true class-act! The first message might have simply gotten lost in cyberspace.

I think the Miami show has started a run on Borges guitars.
I know of two more that were bought up over the weekend as a result of the show.
By one person no less.

WOW !

I took the plunge Sunday night and the Borges at Cotten is on its way to Chicago. I have high expectations for this guitar, but if she plays as good as she looks I should be done shopping for quite a while.

Eric,

Not much I can add but "next tier" in Martins would be pre-war which may require testiclular donation. In lieu of that Jim Merrill, Julius Borges and John Greven make some pre-war "replicas" that would almost certainly fill the bill. I'd also like to say that Mike Baranik makes a very fine guitar.

Cheers, Will

Be sure to give it a good work out before you decide to keep it. I was at the show too and I have to comment on the Ryan guitars mentioned above. I had never played a Ryan so I had high hopes but I played three of them and they were, in my estimation, marginal at best. No better than a stock Taylor. They were also 20 to 30k. I asked Bill about them afterwards and he confirmed my suspicions about them. I played some absolutely amazing guitars, many from builders I was unfamiliar with but the Ryans were really underwhelming IMO.

I'm with Jim on many of the gutiars there. The Ryans and the Charis for example to me sound no better than a "good" Taylor.

The Borges was my pick of the show easily. And also I am constantly impressed with the guitars from Charlie Hoffman. He had a little 14 fret 00 there that was VERY tempting. And about half the price of the Borges.

So how can this guitar not yet have arrived? How can you not have posted pictures and a review? There are many maniacs on this forum who have had a hand in spending your money and we want results!!

Unless, of course, you mailed Kim a personal check and she's waiting for it to clear, but of course no self-respecting guitaraholic would would have so delayed gratification. God invented plastic for a reason!
