How do they know that?

I played an all mahogany OM at Hill Country a while back and I still hear that sound.

What was your favorite Mah/Mah guitar?

Never played one - not even sure that I've seen one in person. I'm curious myself...

I played the OM Kevin had as well. It was very nice. I also owned an all-hog 0-size for a while. Again, very nice but still not quite there (like the OM) for what I was wanting. I liked the 0 a lot more than I liked the OM, though ... more character ... more mojo ... something. Very cool guitar.

Anyway, I ordered an all-mahogany, short-scale C10 and I find it to be pretty much perfect. The extra body depth seems to allow a sound that is a bit more full and gives a little more beef to the trebles. It's extremely warm and shimmery without (to my ear) being too bright ... a great fingerstyle blues guitar, but I find myself using it for much more than that. Long-term it will still have to beat out the '42 00-17 that I have in the shop for a bit of work, but for now it is holding its own.

It's definitely a different sound. I love it. Kim liked mine so much that she has another one on order (exactly like mine) for September delivery. As of now, it's still not spoken for.

I've posted a picture before, but here's another. And no, that's not dust on the top. Just some weird reflection.

Yeah, I had one exactly like that (the full-body burst mahogany).

It's a great little guitar. Very cool. Good vibe. I just thought I'd prefer the C10 body, which I do. The 01 is killer, though.

Never played an all mahogany Collings, the best all mahogany guitar I've played was a Santa Cruz 00. In 2003 after attending the Healdsburg Guitar Festival, after the Fest we headed down to Santa Cruz to visit friends. Well it was a Sunday morning and we were out walking for some coffee. Walked by Sylvan Music. I had been to Sylvan before but was surprised to find it open on Sunday. Anyway, they had that little Santa Cruz hanging on the wall. I picked it up and bought it right then and there, better than anything I had played at Healdsburg. I have been wanting an all mahogany Collings for some time.

The only all hog guitars I have played are the Martin 000-15 guitars. Some were very good and some were only so so.
I've been looking for a used one but don't want to get stuck with mediocre so I'm being careful.

That little 01 hog at Hill Country is the deal. That will make someone a great blues box.

Yeah, I've never seen one (in person) either, Chicago should really try to do a little better.
I have played an all Mahogany Martin Ukelele and it sounded great. Smile
