I played a FS-15 (2004 I think) that I did not care for sound wise or playability wise (beefy neck). On the other hand I played a Schoenberg 00 one that was outstanding. There have been some used JB-15s over at Dream Guitars that Al and Paul really like. Like with every guitar maker it really comes down to the guitar at hand. A name is no guarantee, nor is varnish for that matter. With Bruce's guitars you are also going to have a very high purchase cost. I wound try to check out hands on whatever you can in his Schoenberg models or his fan fret models. Rick

Homer: Well, Steve will know straight away if it's as good as the one he raved about when it came through a couple months back. A gorgeous guitar, and Steve made it sound one note short of the Second Coming. But at least there's a comparison to be made. So, I'd certainly at least be interested in his, and your, reaction when it materializes. Odd that our choice in this is so very similar, and almost contemporaneous. thanks tom

I was just up at Schoenberg's guitar store yesterday and played through several guitars. Sexauer's guitars on hand, whether one of his own models (my favorite in the store for clarity and balance) or after Schoenberg's specs (and label), were right up there. The only problem with checking out guitars in that store is that there is no separate auditioning room and the reflections in the room had all the guitars sounding quite bright toned. Rick

Did you play the larger bodied cutaway? I think it was called the Penngrove. Jeff

Yes - very responsive and clear, probably my favorite I played that day. Hard to know as I did not care for the acoustics of the room. I would have to play it in other environments to have a more firm opinion on it and the other guitars I played there. Rick
