Dario,

Just got back from another holiday. Must take a few weeks in August as other months don't work as well for me. Camping up in Algonquin Park and cottaging this year.

Thank goodness your Walker got there without any issues. You must have been excited when you received it before opening it. Though I'm sure you have a handful of other fine guitars.

Yes, isn't the base on a Walker just something else. What a difference. It's not a Dread base, it's the thickness and richness of the tone that is remarkable. It blows me away every time I play it.

I give both of my guitars equal playing time. I'm still not certain what music is prefer for the Walker. Certainly celtic is outstanding on the Walker L-00. The edge, both dry and sweet, the Base, it all works. I'll be working on some bluegrass and some delta blues this year.

Let me know if you're into celtic style. I found a wonderful solo fingerstyle song that works the base wonderfully, is quite simple, and sounds beautiful. It was written for a Walker guitar. It's in a strange tuning though. I play it in E A C# E B D (although it was written to be played in FA#DFCD#). It's just I hate bumping a B to a C as the B string has notorious habbit of snapping on the Collings, and I actually broke a G string the other day on the Walker going from E back to G. Hate that.

Anyway, I don't tend to play any cappo'ed songs higher that the second fret on the Walker as it starts to erode the base too substantially, and I miss the base when I do try to cappo higher.

But I do have a shorter length at 24.9 (as I recall). You may be at 25.4.

So glad you are enjoying your guitar.

Tell me what style of music you are playing on it. I will not be recording for a few more years, but it will come.

Stuart

Hi Stuart, I fully agree with you about the bass of the Walker, amazing. I am not (not yet....) into celtic style and play most, but not only, in standard tuning. I play with both a thin pick and fingers/nails (no thumbpick) and with a soft attack. I have exchanged mails with Kim and he does play the same way, no wonder we both like a lot this guitar. I also accompany vocal and I am experiencing this guitar in all its versatility. I frequently use the capo up to 4th and 5th frets and the tone richness is all there (as you said, its a long scale). I can only repeat that it is a gorgeous instrument and I'm looking forward to its development in these first few months as I'm trying to put in as much playing time as I can ... Smile

best,
Dario
