The PMTE isn't a joke or something that can be brushed aside just because it didn't come from the royal halls of Austin. Mario (Mare-e-O) loves to experiment outside of "the box"... carbon fibre center strips on his braces, PMTE, and other small things that, in his words, all add up to make a complete tonal envelope.

The PMTE, best I understand it, gives certain guitars a crispness and added bass presence. Not all guitars need it, Mario says, but some do and... yes, the PMTE works in those cases.

I've got an incoming '95 D2h that I sold 4 years ago and have coming back home. I may have one put in this guitar... we'll see.

Oh yeah... if you don't like what a PMTE does, you can **easily** have it removed.

Really? I haven't run across too many people that don't believe that the popsicle brace has an affect on tone, for better or worse. I haven't done much thinking about it personally, but I can tell you that I tend to really like guitars that use the brace, but that's not (necessarily) due exclusively to the brace.

Me too. I don't like a guitar that is too "loose". I like punch and focus.

Well said, my left handed friend. Collings is committed to traditional guitars in tradional styles and I love that, but there are other builders with other approaches that are very effective. If nothing else, Mario's braces look cool Wink.

Here are just a few more that you can use to describe Bill's Demigod status and keep everyone in lockstep:

If at first you don't succeed, you're not Bill Collings.

Bill Collings actually built the stairway to heaven.

Bill Collings did in fact, build Rome in a day.

Bill Collings can lead a horse to water AND make it drink.

To be or not to be? That is the question. The answer? Bill Collings.

When you say "no one's perfect", Bill Collings takes this as a personal insult.

Bill Collings is not Politically Correct. He is just Correct. Always.

Like how I tied in the Texas Ranger theme? Big Grin
