Hello everyone, great forum.
I recieved my Martin Laurence Juber in mahogany today, number8. I cant overestimate the greatness of these guitars. I have the madagascar as well,i was going to say i dont need any other guitars now. I sold my taylor 914c and a few others. Anyway, ill stop my GAS when i find a couple Collings cheers |

Congrats OMC, the Jubers were always awesome guitars. I had my heart set on one of the original Mahogany Jubers, but never closed a deal. They always got amazing reviews. Glad they put out another limited run.

Hey Stuart, they must be the most consistent Martins.
Im looking at an OM1A and an OM2H now Both cutaways, There arnt many collings guitars available in Australia to try out. Im confident on ordering sight unseen. cheers |

Wow,
It's probably much cheaper to have it shipped I would imagine. Be aware, that even though very many people prefer the OM1A, there are also some, including myself, who prefer german or sitka on on OM. The other crucial issue is string spacing on the Collings OM's. The standard width at the nut is 1 11/16. This is too narrow for me. See the main page and see historical discussions. I would at a minimum order the vintage now neck, and 1 3/4 at nut. Vintage now is 2 1/4 at saddle, and vintage is 2 6/16 at saddle. Wish it was 2 5/16. I like the OM german I think, personally. That's the only issue with ordering unseen. Not getting to compare the topwoods. But you do get warmer weather. haha, yeah the climate is good for guitars over here.
No real need for humidifying. The Vintage neck would be the way to go for sure. The MOD V neck takes a little time to get used to but i wouldnt want anything else now. Maybe i should just settle for an OM3 |

omc, there is a OM2H varnish at Gryphons at the moment and I can vouch for Gryphons having ordered to Australia from them before.
With the state of the Aussie/US dollars at the moment, it's a good time to get guitars from the USA even when you take into account the taxes and duty charges. Of course the draw back is buying without trying first because even with Collings, the guitar's tone can vary quite a bit in exact same models. Where in Australia are you? I'm in Sydney. |
