Mary, I'm outside of Orlando, Winter Park area. I didn't mean to belittle your going to law school. I was in my mid thirties when I started and know it's not an easy road. The back of your guitar is gorgeous. It must sound as well. At least I've got more time to spend with the Franklin now. Always an upside to these things.

jaco, didn't take it that way, but i don't know if i'd work for anyone other than myself.

we have property in Lutz near Tampa and some in Holmes Beach. always looking for a lawyer to handle things.

as for law school, i really think i am much more focused this time around.

the guitar is a monster. one to leave the grandkid.

Marymary,

How does your new addition sound? I just played a NAMM guitar at Charley's Guitar in Dallas. Dana named it "Panama Red" because of the red colored Panama Rosewod. Hide Glue was also used. The guitar sounds fabulous. Pictures are on Dana's site.

these hide glue guitars are DYNAMITE! i have a short scale slope d that i got in April...just kills every other slope shouldered guitar i have played.

as for this one, it is HUGE........i had two folks try to walk off with it yesterday afternoon when i went to show it off at the shop where i ordered it. the brazilian is just insane. it really makes me wonder what all my other guitars will be doing from now on........

I love it!

I have a great Country Boy Deluxe and I'm tempted to buy the "Panama Red" dred and sell the Country Boy!

Howardc, if the spirit moves you, go for it!

Dana's got a real winner with the new Hide Glue gits they're building. I've got a bit more than a week of playin now on my OM-150, and my reaction is just like Mary's. It's a DYNAMITE guitar. Loud, incredibly responsive, dynamic, and just great tone. And I'm convinced that dry aspect to the tone comes at least in significant part from the Hide Glue construction (the responsiveness too).

But Mary, don't kiss off those other guitars in your herd just yet. I'm still playin and enjoying BIG time my Collings and McAlister. Unlike in the NBA, there can be more than one Wink

Tom,

I might just do that if I can convince the "Boss" at home! You know, I just had a very interesting experience. I found a used D1A at Guitar Center and being aware of their 30 day return policy I bought it. I fully expected to play the Country Boy Deluxe and the D1A for a week or two, and then sell the Country Boy. Well...I just returned the D1A. Don't get me wrong, the D1A sounded great, but there was something about the Country Boy that I couldn't give up.

Howard, maybe the D1A's stay at Guitar Center permanently deprived it of Mojo Eek Cause when it comes to the Mah/Adi combo, I'm first and finally a Collings picker. Bill's Mahogany guitars just nail it for me.

BTW, my McAlister OM28 is Panamanian Rosewood. It's a great tonewood on that guitar, and I see from your earlier post that Dana did great building with it too. It's not Braz, but it's damn close at a far more agreeable price.

Tom, you may be right about GC's effect on the D1A's Mojo!! I agree that Collings Mahogany / Adirondack guitars are killer. I'll play the "Panama Red" guitar again on Tuesday with my Red Bear pick. What I heard yesterday was much closer in sound to Braz than EIR. On Dana's web site he says the Panama Rosewood leans more toward Honduran and Mad Rose tone wise. Check out Dana's site...the header mentions the Nashville NAMM 8. This guitar is one of the 8. Does the rosewood look similar to your McAlister?

Howard, its a dead ringer for the Pan Rose on my McAlister. Quartersawn, very straight grain, and the same coloration. A beaut!
