Sobell fans may find my work interesting - I worked for Stefan from 88-90, and the 92-2003. I set up for myself the following year.

The work is my own design but obviously I have now thrown away what I learned from Stefan.

I believe your first name is Nick, but please correct me if I am wrong. I could not find it on your web site. I have certainly heard of your guitars, though I have not had the pleasure of playing one.

I look forward to trying one of your guitars out.

Stuart

Dream has had a few of your guitars if memory serves, and I think the 12th fret in Toronto sees a guitar of yours nown'again.

I only have two dealers- http;//dreamguitars.com of Asheville NC, who has an experimental Model C (my Model C is slightly bigger than a Sobell Model 1) an Dolphin Guitars of Osaka, Japan, who don't have anything just now.

The guitar that was at the 12th Fret in Toronto was sold to a chap who ows a Sobell too. He did a review of it on Harmony Central and compares them a little. It may interest some of you. Here is the link:

Grant, one of the owners of the 12th fret, went to my highschool. I almost made it down to try your guitar because I knew your background, but never got the chance.

There is a Forster with a offset soundhole at Dream Guitars that sounds excellent.

It's a real shame no one has bought that guitar, the experiment worked really well, but the look of it seems to put some people off. Paul at DreamGuitars had a used New World Sobell around the same time for sale and genuinly felt the Model C was a much better guitar. But people often feel safer with a recodnised brand.

If any of you are tempted Paul offeres a risk free trial on all guitars. The details and sound sample of the guitar is here:

Sound sapmles of my other models are here:

They are recorded by English guitarist Ian Stephenson and are great!

Greetings all...just joined. When I saw my name in this thread, figured I had to join in the fun.

I have the Sobell Model 1 (I call it my pre-Martin Simpson, Martin Simpson model) that Billy Boy mentioned earlier. After spending several weeks with Martin over a period of about 5 years, he convinced me to order a Sobell. It is a remarkable instrument. I am amazed each time I play it. The shimmering high end, sustain that seems to ring forever, and rock solid construction (no adjustments in 8 years) all add up to a great guitar that is like no other. I even had Martin sign my label inside, since there was no MS model at the time. I love the guitar. Let me know if anyone has any questions.

Welcome aboard Steve,

Dream Guitar had a Model 1 a few years ago and I was trying to get down there to try it. It had the most amazing tone.

Good price too.

The one that got away.

Don't suppose you have any recordings.

Looks beautiful.

Stuart

Stuart: I have a new digital recorder, and will get something done in a week or two. Check back mid-Aug. and I should have it posted.
