Bon Jovi is performing in Toronto for a few days. It has been reported that on a day off, Richie Sambora visited some guitar stores in the city. I wonder if he ventured into The Twelfth Fret and picked up a Collings for the next days show.
Anyway, I think it's cool that pro's will take time to search out guitars just like the rest of us do. I was once in Willie's in St. Paul when Vince Gill came in played some old Martins. He was prety good. RickM |

Vince Gill is featured in the new issue of Fretboard Journal. He has a guitar and mandolin collection to die for.

Vince can play like a madman. Check his stuff with Albert Lee and Clapton at the Crossroads festival last summer. Humbling. Not as much as Tal Wakenfeld (sp?), the Aussie chick bass prodigy that was playing with Jeff Beck. She's beyond phenomenal, and was 20 when the festival took place. A converted guitarist, she's only been playing bass about four years, and is, imho, every bit as good a Jack Bruce. Probably better. Certainly cuter.

Speaking of Vince Gill and Albert Lee, check out on YouTube the version of "One Way Rider" with Vince, Albert and Danny Gatton trading solos. Some hot pickin going on

Even if he bought a Collings I doubt he'd use it on stage. Poor ol' Collings... rarely gets the spotlight. |

Really? Cool! I had heard he was still alive, and this must prove it. What color Caddy was he in? Wonder if he has any plans to record again? Also, re Aussie Lass bassists: http://www.talwilkenfeld.com/Tal.html |
