I thought I would post this video of Jeff Beck because he's an amazing player and it shows the tone a real master can get from a Strat . . .

Very cool. Interesting that he's playing the bridge pickup almost exclusively (or so it seems). I typically have absolutely no use for the bridge pickup in isolation on a Stratocaster. Maybe if I could play like that I'd find a use for it.
Thanks for posting this. I've never been a huge fan of Beck but I'm gonna give him another shot. Mike ------------------------------------------------------- http://web.me.com/mw0705/Music/audio.html |

never really been a Jeff Beck fan but I'll check it out
Tried to watch it but not my thing sounds like noodling to me |

You've got to admit, he's a great noodler Sonoman, bass player is 22 years old -- some of the people around here probably put on their last set of strings about the time she was born . . . |

Saw Jeff Beck and Stevie Ray V when they toured together. The sound was bad, not a good show at all. I did listen to 'Wired' occasionally back in the day.

I've heard recordings of those two together and I didn't think it was very good -- they're great individually, but they didn't go together well. |

I think Jeff just needs to bust out his metronome and do a video of Blackberry Blossom or something.

Come on Mike, Vinnie Colaiuta (Beck's drummer) is better than a metronome for God's sake . . . He's got a few credits to his name: Frank Zappa, Joni Mitchell, Jeff Beck, Sting, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, George Duke, Leonard Cohen, Tom Scott, Backstreet Boys, Megadeth, Barbra Streisand, Paul Anka, Marilyn Scott, Allan Holdsworth, Asia, Chris Botti, George Benson, Lee Ritenour, Roberto Carlos, Duran Duran, Frank Gambale, John Patitucci, Chaka Khan, Jeff Berlin, Mike Stern, Abe Laboriel, Bill Evans, Olivia Newton-John, Stanley Clarke, The Commodores, The Temptations, Cristina Aguilera, Gino Vannelli, Quincy Jones, James Taylor, John McLaughlin, Joe Cocker, Jing Chi, Anastacia, Michael Bublè, Burt Bacharach, Philip Aaberg . . . To name a few. |

David, my tongue was firmly planted in my cheek.
I like what Beck is doing. Bigtime. I was merely indicating that if he wants to wow more Forumites (which I know, of course, is his main goal in life), he should change his approach and play more sixteenth notes ... Is it possible that the same drummer could have played both with Frank Zappa and the Backstreet Boys. What did Frank say . . . "We're Only In It For the Money"
As for Jeff Beck, take out your old LP of Truth. Awesome stuff. Tom |

Tom, I think his heart was really in the Backstreet Boys stuff and he did things like Zappa, Joni Mitchell, Beck, Hancock and Holdsworth, etc. just for the payday . . . Mike, my tongue was also in cheek -- I figured it's obvious that Colaiuta doesn't compare to a metronome -- even a really, really good one. |
