My thanks as well. The CD arrived today. Better yet,this Saturday I'll stop by Cotten on the way to meet my son at the Vandy-Arkansas baseball game,grab a bite at Rotiers (a home away from home for forty years), and on to the Station Inn to hear the Steeldrivers.A bit of heaven in Nashville. Duck

You are such a steady and positive presence on this forum. Thank you. Your weekend sounds great in all respects. I spent a winter in Nashburg about five ago. I was there late enough to catch a warm, sunny game at Vandy's diamond: really quite a beautiful setting. And I found myself at the Station Inn, a place hard to improve on, a time or two a week. What a perfect place to see the Steeldrivers: I'd give twice the admission price just to be that close to Tammy Rodgers for a couple of hours. My favorite group there was "The Hot Club of Nashville," with Stuart Duncan playing Stefan Grappelli to three guitarists' take on Django: John Jorgenson, Richard Smith, and Bryan Sutton. Watching Duncan and Sutton interact and play off each other was an absolute revelation. Have fun. Careful at Cotten! B |

After a rain shortened baseball game,made my way to the Station Inn for the Steeldrivers show. Arrived an hour early and got the last two seats at the bar.It would be impossible to praise this band highly enough.
Chris Stapleton has a Duane Allman meets Hank Williams voice with power and nuance.Tammy Rodgers is a star,the most emotion I have ever heard in fiddling.Group vocals are tight and impeccable.Instrumentally tight,innovative and tasteful.More importantly,every part of their performance serve the songs,all written by the band.The sum of all these parts is unique to this group.The videos,as good as they are, don't do them justice. If there is any justice in the world,the Steeldrivers will be coming to your town. Buy their CD now and SEE THEM if you can. Duck |
