Just received my copy of Laurence Juber's new DVD "Guitar Noir" All I can say is greaaat!! It includes most of his biggest hits using both his signature Martin and his Adirondack/Brazlian OM2 Collings. It was filmed with lots of multi angle and close up of LJ's hand and playing.

Lots of extras as well including a part in which he demonstrate the same song on a 016 New Yorker, 000, OM, 12fret D, and a D28GE. He talks a little history on each of them. It is almost like visiting a shop and LJ plays all guitars on the wall for you. Other extras includes interviews, TABs, a fingerstyle lesson, photo gallery etc. It is in 5.1 surround and side B of the DVD is a DVD Audio for all songs!

I ordered direct from AIX and they sent me an Autographed copy too!! I can't recommend this more!

This is a great DVD. I bought it soon after it was released. However, I don't see where LJ is using his Collings OM2. Ed, perhaps you can clue me in on what song(s) LJ uses the Collings.

After watching, it did seem that LJ is "endorsing" Martin pretty much by playing the LJ model almost exclusively. Plus the "History of the Acoustic Guitar" segment also highlights Martin guitars.

You can find this DVD at http://www.aixrecords.com/catalog/laurence_juber.html

There should be more DVDs like this one. It is almost as good as going to a concert, except you can see this time and time again.

Kenny B, theres 3:

Track 7: Dancing On Streams
Track 8: In Your Arms
Track 10: Liquid Amber

I think its probably best to demonstrate the history of American guitars using Martins... he did play a Gibson L5 Archtop during the demonstration as well.

I also got the Acoustic Blues DVD by Dorian Michael featuring LJ too. The Acoustic Blues Lesson alone worth the cost of the DVD.

Theres another one by Peppino D'Agostino.. not sure if its good or not.

Just noticed that LJ only plays his Collings OM1AC in the Dorian Michael DVD. LJ featured in 3 of the songs as well.

BTW, Dorian Michael's Baranik cutaway looks and sound cool! Look like a Cedar top to me.

Hi Kenny,

I couldn't access my home email from work.. Let me check again tonight.

BTW, you saw LJ's Collings on those 3 tracks? The Collings and the Martin sound pretty different to me. To me, the Collings is darker sounding whereas, the Martin is very mellow and woody.
