Just wanted to know if anyone knows of or attends the annual CAAS convention in Nashville every July? I'm a member and have been going and playing there for the past few years. Most everyone there plays Taylors and at first I was impressed. Then my friend Pete Huttlinger introduced me to his Collings. I sold my Taylors, enough said. Anyway, lots of really excellent players at the convention, including Tommy Emmanuel, Richard Smith, Pat Kirtley, Muriel Anderson, Jim Nichols, etc. We're all good friends and are like one big family there. Although I will not bring my Collings to Nashville this July (afraid it would get hurt), I would like to meet and chat with any fellow CollingsForum member if anyone goes. I also plan to visit Cotten Music to meet the wonderful Kim Sherman, who I purchased my OM1A from. She's the best. Thanks for reading this.

this sounds like a lot of bang for the buck. I wonder who is going to be there, what workshops are offered, etc. If I go, I would definately bring one of my Collings and never let it out of my site!

You can go to "www.misterguitar.com". There should be something there for the CAAS and there should be contact info for the president of the association. The membership for CAAS is very cheap and the registration for the convention is very reasonable. You can email me directly if you want more info on the workshops and performances. Even though this is a Chet Atkins group, we cover all types of music (since Chet played all of them anyway) like: Travis style, Bossa Nova, Jazz, Classical, etc. During the day, both workshops and performances are on at the same time. The teachers and performers switch the next day. There's always something going on for everyone.

Ed, we get guests from other countries. My friend Roger Wang, great fingerstyle guitarist from Malaysia, attends and so do some people from Europe. I met folks from Ireland last time. Marcel Dadi was one of our performers until his tragic accident so we get people from France as well. Jerome Malaval (of France) is a performer. Any other info, just contact me direct.

It is a great event. Like I said, can't go wrong if you get to hang with Tommy E. and all those other great players.

Thanks for the interest.

Does anyone know who is going to play for this event? It would be nice to know that before going. Who is giving the workshops, what are the workshops, etc.
