As a native Memphian, I can say two things.

One...this gentleman has great taste in chicken. If any of you are ever in the area, ignore your spidey-sense, go to the bad, non-commercial part of downtown, and have some of Gus' fried chicken. The best in the country.

Second...apparently this gentleman and I differ greatly in our evaluation of fine women. =-)

best fried chicken I ever ate was at the Blue Ribbon Tap Room in Springfield Missouri. Cooked to order in huge black iron skillets. After dark, you're on your own. Might give the phrase "to die for" a deeper meaning that we usually attach to it.

Whitey Johnson is the nom de guerre of the great Gary Nicholson,a true Nashville treasure and collaborator with Delbert McClinton. Delbert's annual benefit for the Nashville Children's Theater is tomorrow night. I wouldn't miss it any more than I'd skip Christmas. No place on earth I'd rather be.If somehow you have not made Delbert a part of your experience, you're missin' half your musical life. Duck

shake n bake? You blaspheme, sir. But Fayetteville ain't that far from sprang-field, as it's called. Re Delbert McClinton: maybe the best roadhouse rock voice there is. Maybe John Fogarty's in there too. Every Time I Roll the Dice. Mercy.

Agreed with all of the comments about Delbert. He's a Ft Worth native - my home town. I've had the chance to see him live several times and that man can flat tear it up. And he taught John Lennon how to play the harmonica. He's a real treasure.

Delbert,as always, was over the top.The Children's Theater in Nashville is newly and spectacularly renovated/rebuilt and the stage itself is named in honor of Delbert.Several hundred kids attend performances there every day and the performers are largely professional. As a Pediatrician, I think it's great that there is a place for the tv and video assaulted kids see live performance of this quality.Delbert is one of the real good guys and he still rocks like hell. He had a standing room crowd despite Elvis Costello at the Ryman on the same night.
Stopped by Cotten on the way in. Darcy gave me a copy of her CD.As Charlie Daniels said "It's great to be alive and in in Tennessee". Duck
