I'm going to the Tommy Emmanuel Workshop in Denver this Saturday afternoon, 9/25/04. WooHoo! I can't wait. I'm thinking about seeing if he will autograph the top of my old Martin 00-18.

The finish on the top is not original so it makes no difference to the value of the guitar. It might enhance it. I think it will up the CQ (Coolness quotient) a few points. It's a great guitar but the top is refinished, the back has many repaired cracks, replaced bridge, replaced tuners, cigarette burns in the headstock, etc. I can only think the mojo will grow.

It wasn't value. It was the same consideration I'd give to putting a tatoo on my face. But, hey, the CQ and Mojo might tip the scales in favor of doing it! Skip Henderson of City Lights Music, and the man responsible for getting a headstone on Robert Johnson's grave, gave me a Rattlesnake rattle that is inside my LoPrinzi D-sized and helps my Mojo Hand. I'm still waiting to run across the Mojo for my OM3HG. I'll know it when I see it. Good luck with Tommy

Rockerbob, I would say.."Go for it!!!" and take a lot of pics and share it here!! If I have the chance, I will probably ask Tommy to autograph my OM1A!!

I agree to a point, and I have no tattoos anywhere, but since I sprayed the finish on the top, I know I can strip it and do it again. The guitar had NO finish on the top when I got it.

I will bring a camera as well as the guitar. I need to put a new set of strings on it in case Tommy strums it!

R, Even with the description of your guitar, sounds like it would still look better than the Maton T.E. plays at his gigs that he uses as a percussion instrument. He slaps, bangs, hits it with a brush (that drummers use), and raps it with his thumbpick. He does have a newer one he started using when we were at the Chet convention in Nashville last July that was still "scratch-less".

In addition to the autograph, you can probably let Tommy play his "Initiation" on your 00-18 a couple times.... I think it will up the CQ (Coolness quotient) even more!
The guitar will probably have NO finish on the top again..

I've seen him play that. I don't need that much mojo!
