Coming soon!!

Thanks to eiko again! We have just interviewed Laurence Juber over the weekend after his sound check for a concert in Freight and Salvage.

Laurence Juber has been a Collings Player for years and used both his OM1A and OM2HBA on stage and in a lot of his recordings!

We asked LJ a lot of interesting questions and I can't wait to read the final interview!! Thanks Ace!

Ed

Here's a few videos I took of LJ during a concert he did at my home a few years back. Liquid Amber is being played on my Ryan Mission. Mosaic is on his Martin OM.

And if you're REALLY into vintage LJ, you can go to this page on my site and see a few vids from a tour he did in 1995 with Al Stewart:

Enjoy!

Funny how an announcement of an upcoming interview with LJ brings out the Juber fans...and there are a lot of those. Thanks for sharing the links.

I spoke to LJ about the interview in Nashville at the July Chet Atkins convention we both were attending. He mentioned that he was coming to the SF Bay Area in late September so we agreed to do it then.

LJ emailed me two weeks ago and we set up the date. He was going to be in town for a few performances. One was at Freight and Salvage in Berkley and he was also playing at a special concert for Eric Schoenberg, together with Muriel Anderson, Mike Dowling, and Jorma Kaukonen. What a line up. That was last Friday night. LJ's F&S concert was Thursday night. I went and arrived just as he was finishing his sound check. We (LJ, his wife Hope, and myself) walked down the street to a little pizza/pasta place and had a nice dinner while exchanging stories that covered guitars, dogs, family, and everything else.

We did the interview back at the F&S green room as he was warming up. I'm writing it up and as soon as it's proofed, I'll shoot it to Ed for posting. I hope you guys will like it.

Ace

P.S. - We had a house concert last night with Mike Dowling who was with LJ the night before. It was awesome. If you don't know Mike Dowling, check him out. He also conducted a small workshop earlier in the day. What a player (especially on the resonator)and super nice guy.

Hey Stoolenreader,

What kind of mic did you use to record the Bourgois? That guitar sounds GREAT.

I love your arrangement of Greensleaves.

I believe that was one of those Oktava mics, the kind you used to be able to buy for $99/pair at Guitar Center.

Here's my LJ story. I went to a Martin gathering in Pennsylvania in August. LJ had given a clinic and concert during the day and evening.

After that, back at our hotel, I was jamming with a few guys in the lobby of the hotel around midnight when who walks through the door of the hotel but LJ, guitar in hand.

We were playing a Hendrix tune and he watched us for a minute, opened his guitar case, sat down and started jamming with us. We played a few tunes together and it was great fun. He's very gracious and a great person.
