Every name I recognize does indeed belong on the list, but I have a lot of listening to do because I don't know many of them.

Great list. I was hoping to see Jim Nichols on this list. He's a prolific guitar player but does not get enough recognition. At the Chet Atkins convention, he's probably the busiest player there behing Tommy E. because everyone wants him to play with them. He does play a Hollenbeck archtop for Chet stuff and jazz but now plays a Morris Acoustic (used to play a Txxxxx) for everything else. Check out the CD "Chet Lag" that Tommy E. and Jim Nichols recorded. You will be amazed. I think at times, Tommy was "trying" to keep up with Jim.

Ed, thanks for sharing the list.

My Collings family: OM1A Custom (deep body), 000-2GC, 16" Archtop, & T.N.O. (The Next One )

Even though such a list is subjective by nature, it's omission of Duck Baker is laughable. I'm willing to bet a set of strings that 9 of the top ten would put Baker ahead of themselves. Adrian Legg's increasing reliance on electronics to bolster his tepid abilities should immediately disqualify him. Yes, Richard Thompson is excellent. Try playing '52 Vincent Black Lightning.
