Just came back from L.A. Caught Pete's concert at Boulevard Music last Saturday night. B.M. is a small guitar store (that doesn't carry Collings) that occasionaly has performances. The cleared out main floor holds a little over 100 seats. The place was packed, we were on the front row.

The show was great. Pete and his OM1c were incredibe as usual. He played for a couple of hours with a short break between sets. Pete started with 4 or 5 songs from his latest Santa Rita Connection CD. After the break, Pete had a special guest who sang/played 6 original songs with Pete. Can't recall his name but he was with Strawberry Alarm Clock (remember them?). Great singer and he played a Gibson dread. Pete's OM1 through his AER 60 amp into the house P.A. sounded incredibly good. I brought 6 other people with me who had never been to a fingerstyle player's concert. I think they all got converted.

Standout tunes that Pete played:
1. Josie
2. Sir Duke
3. Superstition
4. I Got Rhythm
...then I yelled "can you play something harder!". So he played a super fast version of...
5. Brown Bomber

I hope someone else on the Forum caught it. I'd like to hear what you thought of the show. Thanks.

Pete should arrange an Asia tour so we can all go see him play!!! Have you heard Martin Taylor's version of "I got rhythm"? It is equally incredible!

Eiko,

I thought Pete was playing a OM-1AC these days?

Kenny,
Pete plays his OM1C on his gigs. The OM1AC is usually reserved for his recordings. I've played them both. The OM1C has a low action but not too low so he can still attack it a bit when he gets going. He really loves playing that "live". The OM1AC is definitely his studio instrument - great sound. Then again, he could probably play a cheap guitar and still blow me away.
