I posted this over on 13th Fret, but haven't gotten an answer yet. I know the Collings Forum won't let me down!
I just received Pete's new CD 'The Santa Rita Connection' and am blown away! For those of you who either know Pete or have seen him play, can you tell me what his right-hand set up is? Does he use thumb picks, finger picks, nails, flesh, some combination?
What an impressive player! Check out his new CD if you haven't already!
Happy Holidays, y'all!

Hi. Pete's a good friend. Isn't that CD great? My favorite is "Hortencia". "I Got Rhythm" is amazing and he played it for me a touch faster than the CD and it was amazing. He plays with a thumbpick (can't recall which brand) and natural nails (reinforced with a touch of acrylic paste or something like that). Somehow with his technique(s), he gets a lot of 'drive'. Pete's able to use the thumbpick just like a flatpick when needed. He also does banjo rolls on the faster paced tunes. Pete played his OM1A on that whole CD, which was recorded in his studio in Nashville. He is an incredible player. Catch him "live" when you get a chance. BTW, his new book covers all the songs on that CD.
My Collings family: OM1A Custom (deep body), 000-2GC, 16" Archtop, & T.N.O. (The Next One )
