I saw a great show last night. The California Guitar Trio was playing at this terrific venue, The Fox Theatre in Redwood City CA (near SF). Actually they played at this cabaret style club next door called the Little Fox.

Fantastic show, great sound and small club.

Tom Griesgraber opened for the Trio. He plays this wild instrument called a Chapman Stick. If you haven't seen or heard one check it out.

The Trio plays what I think are Martin LJ - they all have a matching guitars. Hideyo has a different pickup system than Bert and John. There set up really is quite amazing. They have starting using the Roland effects pedals and get some terrific sounds from their compositions. I happen to be partial to their more acoustic and natural sounding stuff but their other songs sound great and don't feel over produced at all.

When they come to a town near you - go - it's worth it!
